Loc'd/Natural Hair Daily Moisture Spritz

My 4c hair is SUPER dry...I mean tumbleweed in the middle of the desert without a drop of water in sight dry.
It wasn't until I started making my own daily spritz that I could keep my hair moisturized. When I got the dryness under control, it stopped breaking and shedding. It actually grows now...

This is how I make my spritz for locs. My spritz for my loose hair had about a teaspoon of vegetable glycerin in it. I don't use the glycerin in my loc spray because I don't want any buildup.

You'll need:

  • Distilled water (tap water can be drying)
  • 100% pure Aloe Vera Juice
  • Castor oil and/or Jamaican Black Castor oil
  • Lavender, Clary Sage, Rosemary, and Peppermint essential oils

Oh yeah, and a spray bottle :-)

Fill the bottle with half aloe juice...

...and half distilled water.

Add about a tablespoon of castor oil or Jamaican black castor oil (or combine both to make a tablespoon)

Add 6-8 drops of each essential oil...

Shake well and spritz away! I use it at night, in the morning, and throughout the day as needed. I use it to change a style, I use it when tightening my locs. I use it ALL THE TIME. One bottle usually lasts 7-10 days.

In the morning & evening I always follow my spritz with a 1:1 JBCO/EVOO mixture scalp massage. This is probably aiding in the moisture & length retention.

You could probably store this in the fridge but I never have. I keep it on the bathroom counter and it's never gone "bad" on me.

See y'all later!

OMG My world is changing!

Welcome to my world, y'all!
So much has changed in my life in the last couple of months...

  • I've gone from working a full time job and "climbing the corporate ladder" to being a stay-at-home mom & wife.
  • I've gone from being a part-time "I'll take a class when I can" college student to being a full-time DAY-time student. (Did I mention I am 37 years old and my oldest child is a senior in high school? My classmates are going to be the same age as my child.)
  • I've gone from being a couch potato to being a born-again gym rat. I'm competing in the Body-for-LIFE program. We'll talk more about that later, but until then here's a link.
  • I've gone from shopping daily like a mad woman to being put on a...a...BUDGET. I need a Kleenex.
  • AND...the biggest change of all, I've gone from wearing weaves & wigs for over 20 years to starting locs. I did them myself and besides what I've learned from Youtube and my mama (she's been loc'd for 5 years) I have NO idea what I'm doing...
I'd love it if y'all would subscribe to my blog so you can come along on this journey with me. Leave lots of comments. I'm always open to your thoughts, ideas, constructive criticisms, and virtual high-fives!

See y'all later :-)
