It wasn't until I started making my own daily spritz that I could keep my hair moisturized. When I got the dryness under control, it stopped breaking and shedding. It actually grows now...
This is how I make my spritz for locs. My spritz for my loose hair had about a teaspoon of vegetable glycerin in it. I don't use the glycerin in my loc spray because I don't want any buildup.
You'll need:
- Distilled water (tap water can be drying)
- 100% pure Aloe Vera Juice
- Castor oil and/or Jamaican Black Castor oil
- Lavender, Clary Sage, Rosemary, and Peppermint essential oils
Oh yeah, and a spray bottle :-)
Fill the bottle with half aloe juice...
Add about a tablespoon of castor oil or Jamaican black castor oil (or combine both to make a tablespoon)
Add 6-8 drops of each essential oil...
Shake well and spritz away! I use it at night, in the morning, and throughout the day as needed. I use it to change a style, I use it when tightening my locs. I use it ALL THE TIME. One bottle usually lasts 7-10 days.
In the morning & evening I always follow my spritz with a 1:1 JBCO/EVOO mixture scalp massage. This is probably aiding in the moisture & length retention.
You could probably store this in the fridge but I never have. I keep it on the bathroom counter and it's never gone "bad" on me.
See y'all later!
Tangie :-)
